What is Holistic Health Coaching, anyway?

I was listening to a podcast the other day about creative flow and it got me thinking. The way this man described the experience of being in a state of ‘creative flow’ - connected, energized but simultaneously at peace, light yet grounded, effortless momentum - is exactly what being in a state of flow with your health feels like. It's not a destination, but a way to move through your life. A way of being that, through the process of finding balance between your physical, mental, social and spiritual aspects, allows you to be present with whatever is.

As you think to yourself…  What a nice thought, but let’s get back to reality. Does at least a small part of you wonder what it might take for this to be possible in your life?

So, what’s a Holistic Health Coach, anyway?

There’s a moment many of us women reach in our late 30s or early 40s when we realize that wellness is not just about green juices, spin classes, or finding the right supplements. We’ve done the cleanses. We’ve joined the gyms. We’ve tried the productivity hacks. And yet—something still feels off. What worked 10 or even 5 years ago just doesn’t seem to move the needle anymore.

That “off” feeling often comes from being out of flow. Flow, in this context, isn’t about performing at peak capacity 24/7. It’s about moving through your days with a sense of alignment—where your body, mind, relationships, and spirit aren’t competing with one another, but instead supporting one another. That’s where a holistic health coach comes in.

A holistic health coach doesn’t just ask, “What are you eating?” or “How many steps did you get today?” We look at the whole of your life. Because real, lasting wellness happens when the different parts of your life stop pulling in opposite directions and start working together.

More than the body.

Your physical health is your foundation, yes—but it’s also one of the easiest places to get stuck in extremes. Maybe you’ve been on a carousel of diets, or you push through every workout even when exhausted. Or maybe you’ve let your health slide because there’s just too much on your plate. I’ve been there.

I woke up a year into the COVID-19 pandemic with two babies, a really demanding career and in the worst physical health I had ever been. Not just a lack of energy and motivation, but intense physical manifestations of stress. Unexplainable hives, irregular blood work, night sweats - you name it. Yes, I needed to focus directly on my physical health. But it was also much deeper. I was disconnected from my body and, for the first time, realizing that I had never really been connected to begin with.

A holistic coach helps you step off that carousel. We explore not just what you eat, but why. Not just how you move, but what kind of movement feels nourishing and sustainable. Instead of treating your body like a machine to be optimized, we treat it as a partner to co-create with.

The quiet voice that guides you.

So many of us live in our heads—racing thoughts, endless to-do lists, spiraling worries. And while mental health deserves professional care when needed, everyday mental wellness is something we can all nurture.

Together, we’ll uncover the patterns of thought and belief that might be keeping you stuck. We’ll build tools for managing stress, yes, but also for cultivating presence. Journaling, mindfulness practices, or even simple pauses in the day can become gateways back to yourself.

The mirror of your life.

The truth is, your relationships—whether with a partner, your kids, friends, or colleagues—are some of your biggest sources of either nourishment or depletion. We often forget that who we spend time with directly impacts our energy, our health, and our ability to thrive.

As your coach, I’ll support you in clarifying boundaries, reconnecting with what you truly value in relationships, and learning how to communicate in ways that honor both yourself and others. When your relationships are healthier, your whole system breathes easier.

The thread running through it all.

Spirituality doesn’t have to mean religion. I’ve found that it often doesn’t, and certainly does not for me. It’s that quiet, grounding thread that reminds you you’re connected to something bigger—whether that’s nature, creativity, meditation, or your own sense of purpose. Without it, we often feel adrift.

Together, we’ll explore practices that connect you to meaning, to gratitude, to joy. This is the soil where true flow takes root.

Flow.

When these areas—body, mind, relationships, and spirit—are in conversation rather than competition, you begin to feel it: flow. Life feels less like an uphill battle and more like a river you can trust. You’re not hustling for balance; you’re creating harmony.

That’s the essence of holistic health coaching. It’s not about quick fixes or one-size-fits-all answers. It’s about walking alongside you as you find your own rhythm, your own alignment, your own flow.

And from that place, wellness stops being a goal you’re chasing and starts being the way you live.
